Decide Clinical Software – GlucoTab

Challenge: Decide Clinical Software is a niche company developing innovative solutions for electronic medication, and clinical decision support for the treatment of diabetes. It offers, among other solutions, the GlucoTab platform, which automatically suggests the appropriate insulin doses for individual administrations, as well as for adjusting regular therapy. At the same time, it serves as a vehicle for the comprehensive electronic diabetes record, intended for all patients who require blood glucose monitoring.

Decide Clinical Software needed to integrate its GlucoTab solution with the electronic medical record of KAGes, Steiermärkische Krankenanstaltengesellschaft, which operates in 11 regional hospitals in 20 locations, and 4 regional care centers. The goal was to be able to exchange relevant clinical information, specifically all data related to the treatment protocol, such as medication, homework, and laboratory results.

Solution: To address this challenge, NextMatters designed, and developed a connector in SAP i.s.h.med to integrate the GlucoTab solution using HL7 2.6 communication standards. HL7 communication was developed based on the i.s.h.med MCI (Message Communication Infrastructure) framework.

Outcome: after the development and use of the SAP i.s.h.med connector through HL7 2.6 integration protocols, it has allowed the possibility of exchanging data in real time between GlucoTab and the EHR of the institution, thus guaranteeing the traceability of the data, as well as the safety of the treatments, by having the right information at the right time.
